This question is very similar to “How much is a car?”
The main factors that affect price are:
- Quantity: How many shirts to do you need? The higher the quantity, the lower the price per shirt. 100 shirts can cost as little as $8 each.
- Number of colors in the design: The more colors that need to be in the design bring the price up significantly. If price is something you want to keep low, it’s recommended that you use a one color design. You can always pick different colors of the shirt which should not affect the price.
- What style of shirt do you want? Softstyle tshirts that are a cotton/polyester blend are a favorite. A heavy cotton shirt may cost about .50 less, but some people really don’t like them. It’s a good idea to check with people in your group to find out what style of tshirt they like before placing an order.
If you only need one tshirt screen printed, you are going to have a hard time finding someone to make it. This is due to how much work goes into setting up the screen, equipment and cleanup.
Heat transfer vinyl is a recommended option for 1-10 tshirts. I have many colors to choose from! HTV comes on a roll and is fed thru a cutting machine, weeded out and heat press to the shirt of your choice.
For large quantity orders, I often screen print on transfer sheets. I am able to save the design on the transfer sheet for a later time. This works great for small businesses that only need 20 shirts at a time and size are different with each order. I can store 50 sheets and make the shirts on demand without having to invest the setup and cleanup of regular screen printing. This saves time for me and money for the customer!
